Colleen Hoey
Colleen Hoey is a member of Mann & Partner's civil litigation
group. Her primary focus is on employment & labour law.
A native of Ottawa, Colleen earned her B.A. at the University
of Guelph in 1995 and her M.A. from the Norman Paterson School
of International Affairs from Carleton University in 1999. Subsequently,
Colleen obtained both a civil law (B.C.L.) and common law (LL.B)
degree from McGill in 2004. She was called to the Quebec bar
in 2005 after articling with a Montreal firm in the areas of
commercial, civil and constitutional litigation. She has appeared
before the Court of Quebec, the Superior Court and Federal court.
In 2006, Colleen was called to the Bar of Ontario and joined
a local law firm where she worked primarily in the areas of
professional liability and insurance defence in Ontario and
administrative law in Quebec. Colleen practices in both French
and English.
Prior to pursuing her career in law, Colleen worked for a number
of national and international institutions including the United
Nations in New York. Her work at the UN involved initiatives
to promote compliance with international law. Colleen has worked
in Cairo, Egypt with refugee claimants seeking protection under
the UNHCR.
Colleen is a member of several professional associations, including
the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA), the Ontario Bar
Association and the Association of French Speaking Jurists of
Ontario.
Outside of work Colleen enjoys a variety of outdoor activities
including white water canoeing and hockey, as well as spending
time with friends and family.
