Cherolyn Knapp
Cherolyn Knapp provides her skills and knowledge to the labour
and employment practice group at Mann & Partners, LLP. She
assists both employer and employee clients by providing legal
advice and representation in the areas of severance packages,
wrongful dismissal, human rights, harassment, workers compensation,
occupational health and safety, employment standards, Canada
Pension Plan, employment insurance, administrative tribunals,
contractual disputes and more.
Cherolyn also provides civil litigation and administrative law
services. Cherolyn is a committed advocate and when a negotiated
settlement is not possible, she assists clients in preparing
a litigation strategy best suited to the cases of both her plaintiff
and defendant clients. As a litigator, she assists clients with
lawsuits of all sizes, from Small Claims Court matters to complex
litigation.
Born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario, Cherolyn graduated from
Ryerson University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Human
Resources. After several years of working in human resource
and business management roles, Cherolyn entered law school at
the University of Ottawa, graduating Cum Laude with her LL.B.
in 2003. After articling for a large Ottawa law firm, Cherolyn
was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2004 and joined the team
of Mann & Partners, LLP.
Cherolyn is a member of the County of Carleton Law Association,
the Ontario Bar Association and the Advocates' Society. She
is vice-chair of the executive of the OBA Young Lawyers Division
- East, which is actively involved in organizing continuing
legal education opportunities and other community events for
junior lawyers in the Ottawa area. She is also Vice-Chair of
the Board of Directors of the Westboro Community Association.
Cherolyn has written a number of articles and papers in her
fields of practice. She has valuable work experience in both
the private and non-profit sectors, as well as significant volunteer
experience with non-profit boards of directors and community
groups. Cherolyn is an accomplished trainer and educator on
issues of human rights, equity, diversity and duty to accommodate.
Outside of work, Cherolyn is a proud resident of Westboro. She
enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, gourmet cooking and
Canadian literature, as well as the company of her husband and
their pets.
