Ted Mann
Ted Mann has successfully built a strong commercial & residential
legal practice, helping individuals with wills, estate matters
and real estate issues, in addition to helping small and medium
sized businesses with advice, drafting of agreements, negotiations
and successful completion of commercial transactions and the early
identification of and resolution of disputes prior to litigation.
Ted's clients benefit from his extensive experience in all aspects
of general business law, corporate and commercial law, commercial
and residential real estate, wills and estates, transactions,
franchise law and securities law.
Ted Mann has well over two decades of experience in the practice
of law. He is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, where he
received his LL.B. in 1978, and was called to the Bar of Ontario
in 1980. He practised law in Toronto for the first five years,
before heading to P.E.I. for another two and a half years of practice.
Ted moved to Ottawa late in 1987. Years later, in 2003, Ted came
together with his partners and associates to found Mann &
Partners, LLP.
Having been involved in everything from multi-million dollar transactions
to contract reviews for sole proprietors, the breadth of Ted's
commercial, corporate and tax law experience allows him to bring
a fresh and creative approach to any problems that may arise in
the course of operating a business or negotiating and closing
a deal. His sensitive approach to emotionally charged issues allows
Ted also to provide compassionate support in will and estate matters.
Ted also has significant experience in providing legal advice
and support to individuals, same-sex couples and organizations
in Ottawa's GBLT community.
Ted's greatest pleasure comes from getting to know his clients
in order to give them the best possible advice, tailored to the
particular demands of each individual situation.
Ted's enthusiasm for life extends beyond his law practice, into
many other endeavours. Ted teaches the Bankruptcy and Insolvency
course at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, where he is
an adjunct professor. He is an active member of Opera Lyra Ottawa
and has performed major roles at Orpheus, Ottawa Little Theatre,
and Tara Players. Ted has provided his acting abilities in support
of the Great Canadian Theatre Company, taking several leading
roles in the annual G.C.T.C. fundraising lawyers' plays. He is
very proud of his involvement on the Board of Directors of The
Canadian Guide Dogs for The Blind. He also provides advice and
support from time to time on a pro bona basis to Pink Triangle
Services, The Pride Committee, Bruce House, Gender Mosaik, and
other organizations serving the GBLT community.
Ted enjoys a number of athletic pursuits, including running, yoga,
cycling, snowshoeing, skate-skiing, weight-training and swimming.
Ted swims at the downtown YMCA with the Master's Swim Club, and
swam as part of an Olympic distance Triathalon team in the Outgames
in Montreal, helping the team to a gold medal.
