Recruitment Ethics Protocol

Please be advised that Mann Lawyers adheres to the Ottawa Law Student Recruitment Ethics Protocol established by the Ottawa area law student employers. Under this protocol:

  • Legal employers do not advise students prior to the call day start time of 8:00 a.m. that they intend to make the student an offer
  • Law firms do not ask students to advise as to the ranking of the firm or any other firm on the student’s priority list
  • Law firms do not ask students about their intention to accept an offer of employment prior to the call day start time of 8:00 a.m, and
  • Law firms will not advise students that receipt of an offer is contingent on the student indicating that the firm is their number one top ranked choice in advance of call day.

Articling Program at Mann Lawyers

Our comprehensive program is designed to provide you with the training and experiences required to ensure a successful start to your legal career.  As such, over the course of our ten (10) month program, students will be given an opportunity to work in the following areas:

  • Real estate
  • Civil litigation
  • Wills and estates
  • Corporate/commercial
  • Family law

Regardless of which rotation a student is assigned to, if at any given time an opportunity comes up in another section which would be of interest and beneficial to the student’s legal education, arrangements can be made to allow the student the opportunity to take part in that learning opportunity.

During each of the rotations, a lawyer will be assigned to work with our articling student to mentor them through that particular area of the law, and such mentor will provide ongoing feedback. In addition, we encourage our student to participate in and attend such continuing legal education (CLE) programs provided to our lawyers.

Compensation for articling students at Mann Lawyers is very competitive.

We encourage you to review our website to learn more about us and look forward to hearing from you.
