Mitchell Besner, Counsel
I have attended to the needs of my clients in the areas of real estate, wills and estates and corporate law since I started practicing law. From 1988 to 1991, I worked with clients in Montreal but decided to make the move to Ottawa in 1992. Over the last decade, I have assisted physician groups, both Family Health Organizations and Family Health Teams, in structuring and organizing their medical practices. I also have the privilege of advising physicians on various legal issues to help them manage and grow their practices.
A lifelong Montreal Canadiens’ fan, I attended university in Maple Leaf and Red Wings’ territory at the University of Western Ontario where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science. I then attended the University of Ottawa where I obtained common law and civil law degrees. I was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1992 and was a member of the Quebec Bar from 1988 until April 1, 2020.
I have served on the United Way of Ottawa’s Planned Giving Advisory Committee and the board of directors of the Diefenbunker, Canada’s Cold War Museum.
Appreciative of the great outdoor recreation in and around Ottawa, I enjoy cycling, running and cross-country skiing. I indulge in my love of music by attending classical music concerts in which my son plays and sings as well as local festivals.
