Claire Zachanassian, world-famous billionaire, returns to her small , impoverished hometown after 45 years away. To locals, Claire and her fortune are their only hope to save them from ruin. Her offer, though, comes with a price: justice. Claire will donate one billion dollars to the town in exchange for the life of Anton Schill, a villager who abandoned and betrayed her many years ago.

This year the fundraiser will also support Belong Ottawa. Belong Ottawa helps people who are precariously housed or homeless through programs that provide safe spaces to connect people and create community. Their three programs offer meals, laundry, showers and other support systems.
