My practice focusses on real estate and corporate commercial law. On the real estate side, I assist business and individual clients with residential and commercial real estate purchases, sales and financings. I have acted for real estate developers for many years, ensuring the land is in a form capable of development, registering plans of subdivision, condominiums and coordinating with surveyors, architects, engineers, planners, lenders and other lawyers involved in the development. I enjoy helping first time home buyers as well as those who have bought and sold before and I work with clients who use real estate agents and those who buy or sell privately.
On the corporate commercial side, I incorporate companies including professional corporations, maintain minute books and carry out corporate reorganizations with input from my client’s accountant, work with clients on shareholder agreements, shareholder disputes, purchase and sale of businesses and advise on various contractual arrangements.
Born and raised in Ottawa, and after a 5 year stint in Toronto going to law school, articling and completing the Bar Admission Course, I was happy to return to Ottawa to raise a family. I started a practice with a partner, then moved to Burke-Robertson LLP where I was a partner for many years until joining Mann Lawyers LLP in October, 2017.
I have been a Trustee, Secretary and Treasurer of the County of Carleton Law Association (CCLA), taught at the Bar Admission Course in the real estate and business law sections and was on the Executive of the Sir Thomas More Lawyers’ Guild in Ottawa. I am honoured to have been chosen as the 2017 winner of the Abe Feinstein Solicitors Award from the CCLA.
I have been on several community Boards over the years, including the Ottawa Carleton Economic Development Corporation, the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce (and was granted a Volunteerism award) and the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA (and served as Chair). Currently, I am the Chair of the CCLA Real Estate Lawyers Committee, a member of the NCR YMCA-YWCA Finance and Audit Committee, elder of St. Andrew’s Church, Ottawa and Convenor of its Personnel Advisory Committee, and deliver my local community newsletter and canvas for various charities. I was pleased to be awarded the second annual spark Ignite Award in 2017, which recognizes a woman who has made a significant impact in Ottawa in the areas of leadership, philanthropic giving, advocacy, and volunteerism.
When not in the office, I enjoy downhill and cross country skiing and skating in winter and cycling, swimming, kayaking and cottage life in the summer.
I gain enormous satisfaction in ensuring that my clients understand the nature of the transaction they are involved with and assisting them in a way that makes the process easy for them. Please call or email me if you would like my assistance.
