Articling with Mann Lawyers

Why article with us?

When articling at Mann Lawyers, you experience the opportunity to do great work, meet exceptional people and grow in a supportive culture that embraces diversity and respect. Our comprehensive Articling program provides you with the training and experiences for a successful start to your legal career.

Over the course of our 10-month program, you will have the opportunity to work in the following areas:

Civil litigation

Corporate/ Commercial

Family

Personal Injury

Real Estate

Wills, Trusts and Estates

Regardless of which rotation you are assigned to, if an opportunity comes up in another section which would be of interest and beneficial to your legal education, you will have the opportunity to take part in that learning opportunity.

During each of the rotations, a lawyer will mentor you through that area of the law and provide ongoing feedback. Articling students will also work directly with our General Counsel and Director of Practice Development, Scott McLean, to ensure a challenging and rewarding articling experience for a solid foundation for a legal career.

We encourage our articling students to participate in and attend:

  • Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs provided to our lawyers
  • Practice group meetings
  • Bi-monthly meetings for the entire legal team
  • Annual offsite lawyers retreat
  • Networking events
  • Firm social events

We recruit our articling students directly from our summer law student program and generally do not consider applications from those who have not participated in this program.

Compensation for articling students at Mann Lawyers is competitive.

“My summer student and articling experience was excellent. From day one I was given meaningful, hands-on work,  strong mentorship, and the ability to work with experienced lawyers across many different practice areas. I was treated as a colleague rather than just a student. The experience helped me build foundational skills, identify the kind of practice I wanted to pursue, and, just as importantly, it was genuinely fun, and rewarding.”
